The Lord’s prayer for his disciples.

Sermon for January 30, 2022

John 17:6-19

In his high priestly prayer Jesus was interceding for his disciples at the time but his desire for them applies to us now. At the time he was praying in the Garden of Gethsemane with his disciples but now he stands at the right hand of God making the same prayer for us. We are the people called out of a wicked and sinful world according to the will and plan of God. He is sending us out on mission for him and we will be put in danger by the Gospel. His prayer for us is the same as his prayer for the disciples. Christ has made  each of us holy through his sacrifice and now he wants us to be unified in Joy and sanctified in the truth.
